Der im Vergleich VirtualBox (als ich es das letzte mal Benutzt habe, trotzdem wie gesagt, tolles Projekt) mächtigere USB-Filter von VMware, der an diesem Fehler möglicherweise mitbeteiligt ist, hat mir auch schon das eine oder andere Mal sehr geholfen.

Wer hat denn Linux gerafft? Was hier passiert gehört zur Linuxnutzung dazu. Fast alle großen Linuxdistrubutionen haben während der letzten Releases bis zur letzten Minute an ihren Bootprozessen geschraubt. Debian und Ubuntu sind hier nicht ganz 2unberüchtigt, möchte ich mal sagen, von Fedora ganz zu schweigen, OpenSUSE gibt - wenn man mal in den Tiefen der weitgehend unbenutzbaren Webseite liest - selbst zu, dass die ganzen beim Boot von den neuen Hardware-Deamons live generierten Configfiles nicht mehr zu durchschauen sind. Es gibt 23 verschiedene Installationsmöglichkeiten und Installer. Viel getestet werden kann aus Zeit-, Geld- und Faulheitsgründen der sog. "Community", die lieber Windowsuser und andere böse "Kommerzsoftware" flamt als ordentliche Bugreports zu schreiben, eh nicht. Das soll eine nicht datierte VMware-Version alles ausbügeln?

Kurz und bündig: Träum weiter, bzw. benutz' Windows, Deine Ansprüche scheinen sich daran zu orientieren.

That’s nice but what if you want to preserve your wallpaper, theme, custom
drivers, apps and general system configuration? In other words, have a live
CD or USB where Linux is configured specifically to your personal taste and requirements.

This may sound like wishful thinking but there is an open source program
called Remastersys designed to do exactly this job.

Remastersys is a tool for Ubuntu or Debian-based systems that allows you
to make a full system backup to a live CD or DVD. By using other tools like
Unetbootin you can also create a bootable live USB flash drive from the ISO
created by Remastersys.

To use Remastersys you need to have an installed working version of Ubuntu
or other Debian-based Linux distro, presumably one you have already customized

I’m only a novice at Linux but I managed to create my own customized live
USB flash drive with only a couple of minor hiccups. Even so, I wouldn’t recommend
Remastersys to complete Linux novices.

Now my flash drive loads a version of Linux that looks just like the way I want
it to look and with the programs and tools that I need. That's the way it ought to be.

jaa, okay - nach all den Lobeshymnen (und weil UBUNTU 2004 voll scheisse war) habe ich mir die aktuelle 10.04 LTS gerade installiert vor 2 Stunden - ja was soll ich sagen -
bisher rennt alles SUPER! nur die Festplatte fraggelt ohne Ende und scheint mir sehr lahm zu sein....sonst prima alles - wirklich super easy!!!! Dieser Text wurde
unter 10.04 geschrieben. =)

Soodele, nachdem ich einige stunden mit dem system gespielt habe- muß ich sagen
daß die grafik-geschwindigkeit meiner HD 3850 wirklich banane ist, auch mit dem aktuellsten ATi treiber dafür...wenn ich auf youtube ein video sehe, und scrolle im FF,
lagged das bild sehr, selbiges beim bildaufbau allgemein...tipps?! danke!

hmm, für die ati gibt es nen proprietären treiber. ich denke den meinst du sicherlich. es könnte sein dass es was mit compiz( ist für die effekte zuständig) zu tun hat. versuch es mal in der der gconf auszustellen und berichte mal ob es besser wird. ansonsten würde ich zunächst im ubuntu wiki nachsehen ob andere deine erfahrungen mit der karte teilen. die wahrscheinlichkeit dass jmd. dazu die lösung hat ist denke ich enorm hoch. möglich wäre auch im launchpad zu checken ob dazu bereits ein bug vorliegt/vorlag und evtl dazu einen einreichen.

Da hat sich wohl nach wie vor nichts geändert: ATI-Karten unter Linux sind und
bleiben Müll Neuere wahrscheinlich besonders

Mit Nvidia habe ich noch nie Probleme gehabt, alles sehr schnell und auch
Games, wenn sie denn überhaupt laufen, rennen wie Hund.

Andererseits habe ich hier unter LinuxMint 9 ("10.04-Mutant") im Notebook und
einer ATI X300 keinerlei Probleme, alles rennt fix, nichts hängt bei Flashvideos...

danke für eure antworten. ja der propritäre ati ist drauf - leider war der x.org 2d treiber besser, und compwiz dachte ich ist nicht installiert...youtube videos ruckeln wenn ich nur leicht scrolle.. ( auch flash ist lahm....leider.

also ich habe auch ne ati drinnen. allerdings ne 1800er. die ist soo alt dass die nicht mal mehr von ati unterstütz wird, doch bei mir ruckelt nichts. google mal ein bisschen, meistens findet man zum thema ubuntu schnell eine lösung. die community ist riesig und dein problem klingt recht alltäglich. vermutlich musst du nur irgendein config-file anpassen.

die habe ich auch noch X1800XT! 512MB...hat mein Nachbar anno 2005
afaik noch knapp 600 EUR für ausgegeben..lol..ich hab die Karte irgendwann
im Herbst 2006 für 130 EUR abgekauft...war aber viel lauter, -stromfressender als die HD3850 ASUS....und die Linux Box sollte leise sein hier.

glxinfo sagt mir was von software rasterizer, also kein HW-3D OpenGL, ich habe den RadeonHD 1.3.0 Driver, weil er besser rennt als der propritäre ATi Treiber - und keine
Displayfehler hat. Wie kann ich 3D aktivieren? Mesa3D und Compiz mit diesem Treiber?!

habe mir heute den ATi 10.6 gezogen für Lucid - meine Ubuntu ist 32bit derzeit,
wollte mir eine Lucid-eigene Package machen, aber ich habe nur eine Fehlermeldung

Als Gentoo User kann ich da nur sagen:

make: execstack: Command not found

Die Anwendung »execstack« ist momentan nicht installiert.  Um sie zu installieren, können Sie Folgendes eingeben:
sudo apt-get install execstack
execstack: command not found

Das ist außerdem ein Fehler im Paket und da solltest Du einen Bugreport aufmachen.

das habe ich anhand des logfiles bemerkt - nur war mir unklar a) ob execstack im ati packet sein muß b) im lucid installed by default und c) ob die package
auch einfach "so" execstack heißt zwecks verwendung (apt-get suche)

versuche es mal mit execstack...

hatte leider auch nicht -viel- gebracht...ich komme etwas weiter sinngemäß,
doch dann "motzt" der ATi Installer, nachdem er mir eine Package für
lucid erstellt am Ende mit "There were Errors - check <verz. name>
und löscht die Package wieder von der Platte..suche gerade das Errorlog..
